The End of the World, As We Know it: Faith and Ecosocialism beyond Apocalypse

Start: 2020-10-13 18:00:00 UTC Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada) (GMT-04:00)

This is a virtual event

It's the end of the world, as we know it. Join faith leaders as they discuss their work in reshaping and transforming the apocalypse. We'll be discussing the ecological crisis and the potential for societal transformation through a just transition towards ecosocialism. More importantly, we'll discuss organizing in the apocalypse amidst competing apocalypses. From preppers to the Rapture, in what ways does American apocalyptic thinking get in the way building a better future? How do we decolonize the apocalypse and act authentically from our faith traditions and emerging spiritualities?

Panelists include Rev. Chelsea MacMillan (interfaith minister, Extinction Rebellion Activist, and co-founder Brooklyn Center for Sacred Activism), Shay O’Reily (Lutheran lay leader and climate organizer), and Nathan Albright (writer with The Flood and Catholic Worker).
The discussion will be facilitated by Ryan Felder (3rd Year MDiv at Union Theological Seminary).
