The French Left in Solidarity with Palestine: A Conversation with La France Insoumise

Start: Monday, March 11, 2024 7:30 PM

Join us for a discussion of the French Left's work in solidarity with Palestine, featuring Mathilde Panot—a Member of Parliament from Val-de-Marne, head of the La France Insoumise (LFI) delegation in the National Assembly, and one of the leading figures on the French left today—representatives of the NYC Democratic Socialists of America (NYC-DSA), and Jewish Voices for Peace Action (JVP). LFI is a key force on the Left in France, and its members have spoken out against the massacre in Gaza, called for an arms embargo against Israel, and visited the border with Rafah to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people. As a result, they and the French left have been the target of a rabid right-wing smear campaign by the press and the political establishment. In this panel, members of the French and American left will come together to discuss the ongoing movement in solidarity with Palestine and its struggles against Israel’s War in Gaza, and the growing repression faced by this movement in France and the United States.
