JOIN US for our Second Annual LEGACY Project!
The LEGACY Project is designed to be adapted to the needs of the community where the project is hosted. Over 400 aspiring and retired educators from across the country will spend the day preparing impact kits for the schools and students in the community. Impact kits are materials compiled for “do it yourself” activities where students can follow the directions themselves, educators can design a new fun and exciting lesson or parents have the resources to be creative with their children. We call them impact kits because each kit is leaving a different impact on a different piece of the community.
Volunteers will work together to build and prepare impact kits to be delivered to the schools, students and educators in the community. Volunteers will do anything from building Little Free Libraries to designing encouraging bookmarks or composing “Open When…” letters for children with cancer to creating Back-to-School gifts for educators. You are guaranteed that your time spent at the LEGACY Project will change the life of a student in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia area.
We are excited to partner with NEA-Retired, Maryland State Education Association, Prince George’s County Educator’s Association Future Teacher’s Committee, and Little Free Libraries. This year's sponsors include Kaiser Permanente, NEA Priority Schools, NEA Member Benefits, and Envision Realty, LLC.
Together, we will leave a lasting impact in a community where students and their families are in need. The students in DC, Maryland and Virginia deserve a strong and united community to ensure the best public school experience for all!
