In this info-exchange and discussion evening, Mike Childs, Head of Science, Policy and Research at Friends of the Earth (FoE) will outline the UK's pathway for achieving net-zero greenhouse emissions - exploring what will need to happen to transport, power, buildings, land-use, industry, waste, shipping and aviation to get us there.

The role of local authorities in achieving this will also be explored, with a look at FoE's recent climate-friendly local authority area analysis - which reveals exactly how each area is performing on emissions.

And together we'll discuss how you can engage your council and convince them to adopt an ambitious Climate Action Plan, and other actions you can take in your local community.

Manchester FoE members will be on-hand to discuss the Greater Manchester context and the city-region's commitment to achieve net-zero by 2038.
