This is a virtual event

In this second of our political education events  of 2024, under the banner of 'What in the world is happening?'

Palestine, People and Planet.

We go online to explore the devastating environmental and social impact of the war on the Palestinian people with 3 leading Palestinian scientists.

Abeer Al Butemeh, Dr Mohammed Ghalayini and Mazin Qumsiyeh.

We have posed some exploratory questions:

1. what are the biggest environmental issues facing Palestine?

2. In what ways does Israel's settler colonialism and military action, affect environmental issues?

3. Tell us about Palestinian indigenous histories of environmental custodianship of the land (narratives that might be erased)

Finally we will ask - "How can we support the rebuilding of Gaza?

However, we have invited each of the scientists to present their work in any way they wish.

The event will be co-chaired by Cllr. Ekua Bayunu and Cllr Benali Hamdache, GPEW Migration  & Refugee Spokesperson.
