The USEPA is responsible for providing easy-to-access, readable, and current data regarding all sites of pollution within the nation. However "easy" it is to access this data, it is often presented in tools that may be difficult to understand or navigate. Thus, this Training Call will be dedicated to clearly instructing you on how to use the EPA's EJScreen and ECHO Database tools.

The EJScreen is an in-depth mapping system that can present visualized data on an area's types of pollution, amount of hazardous waste sites, level of chronic illness, etc. Meanwhile, the ECHO database presents information specific to facilities deemed as in need of enforcement by the EPA. It tracks a facility's permit history, emissions or waste history, indictments or infractions, etc. Both tools are vital instruments to be used among laypeople and seasoned activists alike to learn more about or diagnose the environmental health of their communities.

The meeting will be training call will be on TUESDAY, July 26th, 2022 at 12:00 PM EST. Please be sure to RSVP through the form at the top right of this page and feel free to invite friends and colleagues.
