Liverpool coach to Hassockfield/Derwentside
Saturday 19 October 2024

These Walls Must Fall is organising coach travel from Liverpool to the national demonstration against detention on Saturday 19 October. Travel will be free for anyone who cannot afford to pay.

Use this form to reserve a seat. If you are booking for more than one person, please repeat the process for each person, with their email contact details.

If you can afford to pay, please use the donation form here.

What to expect on the day

The coach will drop us off near to the detention centre. There will be a short walk of around 5 minutes to the gathering point, where we will make some noise so that the women inside know we are there. A stage will be set up, with musical performances and speeches from special guests. There will be much singing, and, if you like, you can join in with some special songs in the solidarity choir!

After the protest, we will move to a nearby community centre to join others who have travelled from afar, for a delicious meal together. At 5pm we will get back onboard the coaches and head homewards to Liverpool.

Transport details

We will be travelling by coach from Liverpool city centre (location to be confirmed later), setting off at  9:00am. The journey to the detention centre takes almost four hours by road. Getting there by public transport is pretty difficult and expensive - anyone with loved-ones held at Hassockfield/Derwentside will know just how difficult it is to visit.

Return journey

The coach will set off for the return journey to Liverpool at around 5pm, aiming to be back in Liverpool by 8:30pm.
