TREES NOT TURF - Rally for Environmental Justice
Start: Thursday, September 05, 2024• 9:00 AM

Join us right before City Council's first meeting of the fall, to demand that Philadelphia:
- ban artificial turf installation in our parks and rec centers including FDR Park
- stop the destruction and privatization of our public green spaces!
Rally with Clean Air Council • Clean Water Action • Delaware Riverkeeper Network • Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania • Riverways • Save the Meadows • Sunrise Movement Philadelphia
Toxic turf exposes players to cancer, autoimmune disease and more, and that's just from PFAS. The true costs of artificial turf include more injuries, heat stroke, and infection; increased heat; greenhouse gas emissions; PFAS and microplastic pollution; high costs and more.
Philadelphia plans to install 32 acres of toxic artificial turf in FDR Park — and in rec centers and neighborhood play parks. The Inquirer agrees it’s wrong, and says Ban turf fields in city parks!
