United Women of Color (UWOC) is hosting a teach-in to celebrate Women’s Equality Day 2023 & UWOC’s five years in Madison County. Community leaders, activists, and performers will explore opportunities & challenges unique to women in Alabama - and delve into UWOC’s mission to improve the lives of women, girls, and their communities. After sharing a meal, we'll show our unity as we walk 2.5 miles, symbolizing Opal Lee’s Walk for Freedom. “We are building relationships across ethnicities, genders, generations, and economic status. We are demonstrating harmony,” says UWOC founder and Executive Director Angela Curry.
