University of Delaware Climate Strike Dec 6

Start: Friday, December 06, 2019 1:00 PM

End: Friday, December 06, 2019 3:00 PM

Our next nationwide youth-lead climate strike will be on December 6th. It coincides with the next UN Climate Change Conference - COP25 in December! We're asking you to join the movement of rallying hundreds of young people to strike for our future here at University of Delaware on the Central Green in front of Memorial Hall on December 6th from 1PM - 3PM (please note the map location pin displayed is somewhat inaccurate). In collaboration with the Sunrise Movement, the students at UD will need to show the people in power that we want a livable future that we will only support leaders who will make that happen for us. Stand with us to support the Green New Deal, and defend the climate!

Speakers planned for the event include Democratic challenger for the US Senate for Delaware Jessica Scarane, whose platfrom includes the Green New Deal, and UD's Sustainability Manager.

With the consequences of climate change becoming ever more clear and dire with each passing day, a new powerful wave of the climate movement has been swelling up over the last couple of years. Young people around the world have been rising up to defend our future, and have been going on strike – every week, all over the planet – for months. In the September Climate Strikes alone, 7.6 million people took to the streets with us.

But our movement isn't going anywhere. Now, we are preparing for the next wave of Climate Strikes.
