The VRLA Victory Series sessions aren't just about winning elections in 2024; they're about empowering individuals and communities to take meaningful action towards a more inclusive and representative democracy. By joining forces, we can amplify our impact and pave the way for a brighter future for all.

We're presenting Bystander Intervention to Stop Voter Harassment and Intimidation at the Polls in direct response to the increased voter intimidation and harassment during elections. This interactive session will train you on how to safely intervene when you witness voter harassment at the polls on election day using Right to Be’s "5Ds" of bystander intervention.

Topics we'll cover:

  • History of voter rights and voter suppression in the United States
  • Types of voter suppression, including voter harassment and intimidation
  • Protecting your right to vote and the rights of others on Election Day.
  • Impacts of harassment and the threat of violence at the polls on voters and their ability or willingness to vote
  • Signs to look for, and the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities
  • Right to Be’s five strategies for intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay, and direct
  • How to prioritize your own safety while intervening

We'll also talk about the intersection of voter intimidation and race: what to do if you’re a person of color worried the violence will turn on you, and how to avoid being a “white savior.”

Who should attend?

Each session is open to women and gender-expansive people running for office and working on campaigns, and community members seeking to gain skills and build power in their communities.
