Watch 'Matewan,' Support Striking PG Workers

Join us Saturday for a screening of the acclaimed 1987 John Sayles movie "Matewan" at the Wilkins Community Center. The fundraiser screening is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Socialist League to benefit striking Post-Gazette workers, who — if you're on the receiving end of this invitation you may already know — are approaching the 10-month mark of our own fight.
Starring Chris Cooper, James
Earl Jones and Mary McDonnell, Sayles' film is based on the 1920 battle
put up by West Virginia coal miners and their allies as the workers
struggled to unionize for the betterment of their job conditions and
lives.
The screening begins at 6 p.m. at 7604 Charleston Ave., Pittsburgh
15218 (Wilkins School Community Center). A suggested donation is $10,
but all are welcome.
