Water for All Power Hour

Start: Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 PM GMT

End: Friday, July 23, 2021 at 12:30 AM GMT

This is a virtual event

Chicago is facing a water crisis. Based on the United Nation’s affordability standard, water bills are currently unaffordable for nearly 150,000 households in Chicago. Some parts of the Southside have tap water tests coming back with higher lead levels than Flint, MI. Wealthier neighborhoods are paying less for the same amount of water as less wealthy neighborhoods in our city. And no one should be going without clean, running water based on economic status - because water is a human right!

That's why the Chicago Water for All Coalition is working to pass the Water for All Ordinance in City Council. It will stop water shutoffs over inability to pay, ensure our water system is never privatized, make sure our pipes and other infrastructure are updated fairly, and more. We need your help to make it happen.

Join us on Thursday at 6:00 PM for a crash-course on the water crisis and the Water for All ordinance. At 6:30 PM the Power Hour begins. Choose from training and experience in one of three activist rooms: phone banking, text banking, or relational organizing. Many hands make light work - when we all spend just an hour getting the word out we can show City Council that the public supports Water for All!

Some details: You'll want to join us over Zoom using a laptop computer and have a phone nearby. RSVP on this page so we know you're coming. We're all the DJ at the Power Hour, so add your favorite tunes to the shared Power Hour Spotify playlist in advance.

See you there!
