Al posits that war and militarism are major contributors to environmental degradation. He states that not only do we have wars for oil, but the U.S. military is the largest user of oil for war. Furthermore, the environmental damage from war lasts for centuries and affects the entire world. Somehow this seems to be a disturbingly appropriate topic for "Pearl Harbor Day".
