what does the 4th of July mean to Americans in 2020?

The Illinois Education Association Region 67 Council invites you to “Amid protests and a pandemic, what does the 4th of July mean to Americans in 2020?”

An open forum for our members to discuss Independence Day and Frederick Douglass’ speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”

The discussion will be facilitated by adjunct faculty member Pat LaFonte.

Ms. LaFonte is a historian who has taught in the Chicago area for over 20 years. Courses include U.S. History, African American History, and Writing for Black Protest.

The cost for this event is free, but is only limited to the first 90 people.
