Earlier this year, WMS employees worked with AFSCME Council 28/WFSE members to change the law (with HB 1122) to win the ability for Band 1 and Band 2 staff to form a union. As early as January 1, 2024, we'll have the ability to form bargaining units and unite to negotiate for better pay, better benefits, better working conditions, and more.

After winning our collective bargaining rights, WMS members launched the WMS Employees Association or WMSEA, a new union, and WMS staff at more than 20 agencies have started organizing. We now have the right to a seat at the bargaining table to negotiate over our priorities,  Join WMSEA members and WFSE staff for a Town Hall to learn more about the union rights we’ve won and our path forward.
