Women of Color: Sharing the power of our stories, our voices and our leadership

All Women of Color, including Trans Women of Color, who are targeted in multiple ways by the current political regime are coming together to connect, to brainstorm and to act.

One year ago we put out the call to Inaugurate Resistance, an intersectional and multicultural call led by the voices of Women of Color. Center stage were Alicia Ortiz, Barbara Smith, Veronica Perez Rodriguez, Ariela Perez-Wallach, Dr. Aliya Saeed, Deneen Carter-El, and Jamaica Miles.

Join the Capital District Chapter of Citizen Action of New York in Albany on Saturday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. to reflect on the last year, look forward to what lies ahead and plan for continued leadership by Women of Color here in the Capital District. All Women of Color, including Trans Women of Color, who are targeted in multiple ways by the current political regime are coming together to connect, to brainstorm and to act.

In 2017, many learned to heed the words and power of the women who too often get ignored in places like Virginia, Alabama and Washington, D.C. We need that same kind of leadership here in New York. How can we support the Black Women’s Caucus in our NYS Legislature? How can we identify and support our local community leaders? What issues can we, Women of Color, take on and create the change we need for our families, our communities and ourselves?

Join us on Saturday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. to discuss this and more!

*Childcare will be available and light refreshments will be served.
