Women's March 2018-Ann Arbor: Rally to Resist, Persist, Rise!

Start: Saturday, January 20, 2018 2:00 PM

On Saturday, January 20th, 2018, unite in Ann Arbor to rally again!! In response to overwhelming demand, the organizers of last year's march are working hard to host another successful event on short notice. We will be in solidarity with hundreds of anniversary Women's Rallies and Marches around America. This inclusive rally welcomes all and is a peaceful event.

RALLY INFORMATION
LOCATION: This year, we rally in the Diag at the Univ. of Michigan.
2:00 Begin gathering. Tabling will include voter registration, sign-making (please bring your own poster board or some to contribute if possible!) and other groups TBA.
2:30 Music by Jeanne Mackey and Friends kicks off the rally! Same great musicians as last year.
3:00 Wonderful speakers, including: activist Michelle Elizabeth Brown; award-winning poet Zilka Joseph; Rowan Coneybeare of UM College Democrats, Lily Buday of the Progressives at the University of Michigan, and more. Closing remarks by two organizers of last year's and this year's Ann Arbor event, Claire Cepurin and Michelle Deatrick.

This rally is open to the whole family: children and pets included. However, please keep in mind that we anticipate a large and noisy event when deciding who to bring with you. Volunteer staffers will be wearing orange vests. Bring your signs!

WHAT WE STAND FOR: We stand for a Michigan and an America that respect and protect all residents, that celebrate diversity and nurture the potential in all of us.

PARKING: We encourage those who are driving to the March to allow time for parking. Here is a link to the City of Ann Arbor's Parking Information:http://rpsa2.com/Location-and-Rates.

Note that the "Diag" is located at the center of the U-M central campus, just north of South University Street, just east of State Street, and just south of North University (you will also see people with signs walking there!) The Maynard Structure is large and about a three block walk from the Diag.

WEATHER: Forecast as of 1/16 is: Partly Cloudy, 40 degrees.

WHAT TO BRING: Bundle up and come support the resistance. Maybe you'd like to bring a sign of support for Dreamers, women's rights, the LGBTQ community, the scientific community, environmental science, investigative journalists, or any number of communities, causes, or policies currently under attack. Bring your support, your concern, your outrage. Bring your neighbors and kids. Bring your excitement about the new year and the new opportunities to fight back.

From the Women’s March to the Women’s Convention, we’ve seen how powerful we are when we gather together, share space and lift each other up. Together, we will show this administration that women are not backing down. Join the WOMEN's MARCH-ANN ARBOR for the first anniversary of the Women's March.

We resist. We persist. We rise.
