Women's March - Cooperstown, NY

Start: Saturday, January 21, 2017 4:30 PM

Local Rally in Support of Women's March on Washington

A Rally and Candlelight Vigil will be held on the lawn outside the Otsego County Offices on Main Street in Cooperstown, NY, on Saturday, January 21st at 4:30 pm. This independent event will coincide with the national Women's March on Washington. The Women's March is intended to send a message to the new administration on their first day in office, and to the world, that women's rights are human rights. The local rally will provide an opportunity for civic participation for area citizens who are unable to travel to Washington, D.C.

To echo the purpose of the national march, we stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. To protect women's rights, concerns must be addressed both locally and nationally. As a way to think globally and act locally, donations will be collected to support our local women's health nonprofit organization, Family Planning of South Central New York. Family Planning has been providing reproductive health care to women in need and age-appropriate, medically accurate sex education in Otsego County for over 40 years.

This event is free and open to the public.
