World Migratory Bird Day: Protect Insects, Protect Birds

Join us for World Migratory Bird Day on May 11th in Esquimalt Gorge Park at the Gorge Waterway Nature.

The Gorge Waterway Action Society will be hosting family-friendly bird and insect-themed crafts and activities, guided bird walks, and an ecological restoration event in celebration of our beloved migratory bird species and the insects and habitats that support them.

Nature House activities and crafts will be available all day, from 10 am until 3 pm.

Guided bird walks, suitable for those who are bird-curious or bird-experienced, will begin on the hour every hour between 10 am and 3 pm. Meet at the Nature House with your binos and enthusiasm!

Our restoration event will begin at 1 pm at the Nature House. We will be pulling out invasive species and planting edible native species—establishing healthy foods and habitats for birds, insects, and people alike.
