Having elected one councillor at the last election, Nathalie Bienfait in Bow West, we want to elect more councillors next time in 2026.
Could this be you?
We are holding a short session, face to face, for anyone and everyone who has ever thought about this on Tuesday 10 December at 7pm.
It is a purely information sharing session.
It will include:
Nathalie: the joys and challenges of being a councillor
Alistair Polson: what a council election campaign involves
Lots of time for questions and discussion.
Absolutely no commitment. This is just an information sharing session.
We are particularly interested in reaching out to women and people of global majority background. We have a good record of selecting successful candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and we positively want to continue that in Tower Hamlets.
You do not need to be a current member of the Green Party to attend this session so do invite anyone you know who might be interested.
We would like to have the candidates in place by January 2025. An indicative timetable for nominations, hustings and members’ ballot to select the Green Party’s candidates will be available shortly after the 28th October.
To be eligible to stand, you need to have lived or worked in the borough for at least the last 12 months see Qualifications for standing for election (Electoral Commission). You will need to meet this criterion by January 2026 in time for us to nominate you as a Green Party candidate to the Tower Hamlets Electoral Services.
If you have any immediate queries, please contact Daniel on danielinbow@btinternet.com
