Y-49 Public Meeting: Let Your Voice Be Heard

Start: Tuesday, May 17, 2016 6:00 PM

End: Tuesday, May 17, 2016 8:00 PM

The meeting will begin with very brief presentations by invited speakers. Dr. Bruce Darling, Hydrogeologist and ground water expert, will share his expertise on our Chicot Aquifer and risks to Lafayette's drinking water. Other speakers may address additional topics, including  the I-49 connector contract, and hurricane evacuation. We have invited officials with DOTD, LCG, 1Acadiana, NAACP, State Rep. Gisclair, and Emergency Preparedness officials and Parish Presidents from parishes along the Hwy 90 corridor. Some are being asked to make brief statements, and we hope all may take questions from the audience.

But, YOU are the focus of the meeting. Following the brief presentations, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed I-49 extension through our neighborhoods.

Please help us to plan by filling out the RSVP form. Note: the room capacity is limited, so come early to get a seat! In case you cannot attend, AOC is filming. The recorded meeting should air several times on the AOC cable channels, and a few days following the meeting the video will be available for internet streaming. This meeting is being sponsored by the Acadiana Sierra Club's Y-49 Community.
