Yoder Office Visit: Protect the Climate, Fund the EPA

Start: Thursday, August 10, 201712:00 PM

Join us at Representative Yoder’s office on August 10th, the day after our free screening of The Inconvenient Sequel, to remind him that we expect Congress to fully fund the EPA and other key environmental programs.

Invest wisely in our future. Don’t cut valuable EPA programs.

  • Trump’s proposed budget plan would cut funding for the EPA by a third, and would eliminate over 50 EPA programs, including programs to protect drinking water, fight climate change, and protect natural resources that local economies depend on, such as the Great Lakes.

  • It would mean less testing of chemicals to make sure they are safe, and slower, less robust cleanups of contamination affecting communities around the country.

  • The scale of these cuts threatens the kinds of important federal programs that could have prevented the poisoning of drinking water in Flint, Michigan, and leaves other local communities’ water at risk.

Stop ignoring climate change.

  • The Trump administration is in a dangerous state of denial with respect to climate change.

  • EPA administrator Scott Pruitt and Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry refuse to acknowledge the risk of a changing climate, its causes, and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy sector.

  • Congressman Yoder must stand with the facts, support American leadership, support the future of the American economy, and help meet the climate change challenge.

Congress decides what gets funded, not Donald Trump. Tell Representative Yoder that he works for his constituents, not special interests, and that you expect Congress to fully fund the EPA and other key environmental programs.
