The Governor's office isn't open. Can you leave an official comment on his website asking him to veto AB 3123 instead?

Please follow these steps to make an official comment to Governor Newsom urging him to veto AB 3123 — the more he gets, the more likely he'll veto:

  1. Click here to go to Governor Newsom's website in another tab. (Keep this tab open for next steps.)
  2. Scroll down to where it says "What is your request or comment about?" and for Topic choose "An Active Bill". Then under "What specific bill" click "Select a bill" and type "AB 3123", which should bring up the pulldown option "AB 3123 - Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority: board of conduct: lobbying rules". Then select "Leave a Comment" and click "Next".
  3. For "If applicable, what is your stance on the topic?" select the radio button to the left of "Con". For "Message subject" type "Please veto AB 3123!"
  4. In the box below add your message. Here's a draft you can copy and paste, though it helps to use your own words:
Please veto AB 3123. At a time when Los Angeles is grappling with corruption scandals, this bill would severely weaken MTA ethics rules by dramatically increasing contributions that contractors can give to board members, repealing long-standing restrictions on campaign contributions to immediate family members and employees, doubling the amounts of gifts that board members can receive, and potentially allowing board members to work for the very contractors they approved multi-billion dollar contracts for as soon as they leave the MTA.

Now, with New York Times’s headlines on “Political Corruption in Los Angeles”, would definitely not be a good time to signal a retreat and relaxation of ethics standards in California by signing AB 3123.
  5. Click "Next". Then on the next page give them your first name, last name, and email address (you might have to scroll up). You don't need to give them your phone number. You might have to scroll up to see all the fields. Then click "Submit".

TELL US if you succeeded so we know how many comments he's getting! On your phone? Look below. On your computer? Look right and up.
