Add your name: Protect democracy in NYC during the COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed daily life around the world, and especially in New York City, the global epicenter of the crisis. It’s also shifting our elections, with WFP candidate Sandy Nurse's closely-watched primary election for NYC City Council in the 37th District in Brooklyn delayed until June 23rd.

The Governor has adjusted signature requirements for the ballot in light of the public health concerns around petitioning for all races across the state. However neither Governor Cuomo nor Mayor de Blasio has been clear enough about the specific requirements for a New York City Council special election.

Now the Brooklyn Democratic Machine is using this uncertainty to try to remove ALL of the candidates from the ballot EXCEPT for their preferred candidate. The same type of voter suppression and endangering of public health we've seen in recent weeks in Republican states like Wisconsin is happening again — but this time here in New York City. That's unacceptable.

Add your name to this petition to demand that ALL candidates who submitted petition signatures in line with the City Charter appear on the ballot for the primary election in New York City Council District 37 on June 23rd.
