Pledge to Act at AIPAC

In the age of Trump and the 50th Year of Occupation, the American Jewish community is at a moral crossroads. The overwhelming majority of us voted against a Trump campaign which fostered and cultivated racism, xenophobia, misogyny and an outpouring of anti-semitism unprecedented in the US in our lifetimes. The overwhelming majority of us refuse to support the settlement enterprise, which has come to represent the status quo of endless occupation.

And yet, since the election, most of the Jewish establishment has been either silent or tepid in opposition to Trump; several have even expressed their intent to work with his administration. This is silence that we’ve come to expect during moments of moral crisis -- it is the same silence we’ve seen from the establishment for the past 50 years of occupation.

In protest, thousands of us flooded into the streets with the #JewishResistance to show we are ready to resist the upcoming administration’s policies of hate and the Jewish establishment’s failure to lead our community.

A crisis like this calls for a response bigger than we’ve ever imagined. Each one of us has a choice in this moment -- What will we do? What will our leaders who claim to speak for us do?

If 1000 Jewish Americans sign this pledge, IfNotNow will bring the fight to their doorstep and hold the largest demonstration of #JewishResistance in a generation right outside of the AIPAC Policy Conference.

It is no surprise that the same person who led the most hateful presidential campaign of our lifetimes is also the first openly pro-settlement and pro-occupation US president. Racism and bigotry are the values that motivate Trump and the values that enforce the occupation. Our community must reject what the establishment embraces.
