MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON ISSUES THAT MATTER!

During the Spring 2017 semester our lead campaign will be 100% Renewable Energy.

We’ve made a lot of progress in creating renewable energy sources to repower Connecticut.

Unfortunately, natural gas supporters are standing in the way. Utility companies are opposing the expansion of clean energy and demanding that the state spend billions of dollars in public money on new natural gas pipelines. The utilities are powerful, and they have close ties with Governor Malloy and other state officials.

If we want to move towards 100% renewable energy, we’ll need to build enough public support to convince officials us instead of the utilities and stop new pipelines in CT.

On campus this Spring, ConnPIRG’s 100% Renewable Energy Campaign will be dedicated to bringing our community and our state toward a greener future.

In addition to 100% Renewable Energy, we will also be working on a number of other campaigns:

Getting Big Money out of Politics

  • Build coalitions and work with students across the country to overturn the Citizens United decision
  • Help build support for CTs public campaign financing laws

Make Textbooks Affordable

  • Work with faculty members, librarians, and administrators about using free open-textbooks to save students thousands of dollars.

Fight Poverty in your Community

  • Organize service trips and fundraisers for a local poverty relief agency.

Save the Bees

  • Do grassroots organizing and media work to convince the EPA to ban the pesticides that are killing bees and threatening our food supply.

And more!
