Elon Musk claims to be on a crusade to eliminate government waste. President Donald Trump has given Musk his blessing to defund cancer research, eliminate congressionally-authorized agencies, and lay off thousands of government workers.

But new reporting from Drop Site News reveals that one place Musk isn’t looking is his own contracts. In fact, the Trump State Department planned to award him a $400 million contract for “Armored Teslas,” then back-dated the records to make it look like the contract had come from the Biden administration. The State has now cancelled the contract after Drop Site exposed the blatant corruption.

Between SpaceX, Starlink, and Tesla, Musk’s companies have received over $38 billion in taxpayer dollars.

But the White House says Musk will police his own conflicts of interest. That’s not good enough.

The American people deserve an independent audit of Musk’s contracts. It’s the only way to be sure that our money is being well-spent.
