Tell Congress: Ban AI Discrimination in Hiring!

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the way employers hire, with more and more companies using AI systems to screen resumes, conduct interviews, and make employment decisions.

But there's a dangerous downside to this high-tech hiring revolution: AI can easily become a vehicle for discrimination.

Many AI hiring tools are built using biased data that reflects societal inequities. As a result, these systems perpetuate and even amplify discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability status, and other protected characteristics. Qualified candidates are unfairly screened out, and existing disparities in the workplace are reinforced and automated.

Illinois State Reps. Andrade and Rashid passed AI hiring fairness legislation in Illinois to prohibit employers from using AI systems that discriminate against job applicants.

This legislation is a crucial step towards ensuring that the power of AI is harnessed in a way that upholds our values of equality and non-discrimination. Now we need Congress to fight to address this issue nationwide but that won't happen without a massive show of public support.
