Biden: Declare a Climate Emergency & End Fossil Fuels -- White House Nonviolent Civil Disobedience

From September 7th to September 22nd, climate activists organized 7 nonviolent civil disobedience actions with 20 arrests at the White House calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency and end fossil fuels. We joined the effort to push Biden in advance of the UN Climate Summit and the massive March to End Fossil Fuels in New York City. Shamefully, Biden did not attend the Summit but he did announce the American Climate Corps -- an important victory and a clear sign that the escalating nonviolent pressure from the movement is working. As we end this push, we declare our commitment to return and continue organizing nonviolent direct action this fall until the President uses his full powers to solve this existential crisis, starting with declaring a climate emergency and keeping his promises on phasing out fossil fuels.
Each day Biden delays in taking these steps is precious time lost to save lives and secure a habitable future for humankind and countless other species. As we move forward from a summer of record heat and relentless climate disasters, we must put our bodies where our hearts are and appeal to Biden to lead courageously with the love he feels for his grandchildren by acting to save all of our families. Sign up here to join us. Together we can help save lives and secure a livable future for humankind.
