Thousands of women enter prison while pregnant. They often encounter substandard, if not life-threatening, medical care during their pregnancies and, in 35 states, are still subject to being shackled during labor and delivery.

We pledge to support efforts to end the shackling of pregnant and birthing women behind bars as well as all efforts to ensure that they receive essential health services for all pregnancy-related outcomes.
