Dear AFSCME Members:
I know you’re busy, so I’m going to cut to the chase. Politicians in our statehouse have introduced bills aimed at taking away our hard-earned collective bargaining rights.
I know that your are proud of the work you do every day, which keeps our communities running safe, and strong. Now your voices, the services you provide, and the job you do is under attack.
People who work in public service don’t do this work to get rich, or for the recognition. We do it because it means something to make our communities better. Legislation that makes it harder for us to have our union is simply wrong. It disrespects us. It disrespects our commitment to providing the best public services we can. Politicians should be making it easier for workers to join together, not harder.
Right now it’s important for us to stay informed and stick together. I’d like to be able to get you the latest information as it happens.
All you need to do now is sign up with your email address. Email is the fastest way for me to send you the latest updates on what is going on — and on what we can do together to stop these attacks.
You never quit doing the work that keeps Iowa running. And we can never quit standing up for the services we provide and our right to a voice on the job.
Thanks for all you do,
Danny Homan
President
