Call for Video Submissions

Hi all! We are producing a short video for the March 5th Indivisible event in Austin TX, and we want to include you! And guess what, taking part is SUPER EASY! We are looking for a diverse sampling of your voices to tell us WHY YOU STAND INDIVISIBLE. Just follow the filming instructions and submit your video files today. The deadline to submit is Monday, February 26th.

How To Film Your Video

Please read the instructions below on how to best record your videos.

READY?

We would like you to film on a smartphone! First off, no selfies. People should pair up and film each other: one will be the Cameraperson, the other the Interviewee. Please keep the filming distance to about 3 feet apart.

LIGHTS!
Make sure there are no windows behind the Interviewee, or else the footage will have white, blown-out backgrounds. Ideally they would have some light source on their face, be it from a window or desk lamp.

ROLL SOUND!
The best tip for having good audio is, avoid any sort of distracting background noise. Try to record in a relatively quiet place - but avoid the echo of an enclosed room as well.

ROLL CAMERA!
The Cameraperson should hold the phone in landscape mode, so not like a cell phone, like a TV. The camera should be eye level with the person talking. The Cameraperson should use both hands to grip the iPhone, and keep their elbows close to their body to keep the shot as steady as possible. When ready to shoot, the Cameraperson should tap the Interviewees face on the iPhone screen to focus and lock exposure. If your record one video per question - the upload process will likely be a bit easier.

ACTION!
Please give us a few different takes and review the footage between them to make sure it looks good.

What To Say In Your Video

Please answer all of the following questions. If English is not you first language, your are welcome to submit in the language of your choice! Also, it is important that you restate the question in your answers (ex. The issue I care most about is...). It will probably be easier to upload one video per question, since the video files can be large.

Who are you? Yes, we want your first name, but who are in a broad sense? What communities do you identify with, what do you do for a living?

What district are you in, and who is your Congressman?

Have you ever been politically active before?

Why is it important to be involved now?

How much are you being paid to protest? Looking for some humor here.

What does the group Indivisible mean to you?

What would you say to a friend thinking about joining Indivisible?

What issue is most important to you personally?

Why will we succeed?

Please finish the following sentence "I stand Indivisible because..."

Notes to Keep in Mind

  • Be enthusiastic and positive!
  • Humor is a plus :)
  • Restate the question in answers
  • Film in *visually appealing* locations
  • If you have any other video footage or photos from Indivisible events - feel free to upload as well! Be sure to distinguish these with file names.
