Call the White House: Stop the Alberta Clipper Pipeline

Join the national call-in day and help make sure our message is heard. You can reach the White House comment line by calling this number: 202-456-1111

Enbridge, the Canadian pipeline company responsible for the largest oil spill ever on American soil, has devised a way to work around existing regulations in order to get tar sands across the border into Minnesota without a new transborder permit.

The simple truth is that this is an illegal maneuver that threatens communities in its path and our climate as a whole.

We need your help to shine a light on this crazy deal and let President Obama know that it clearly fails the climate test. If he’s truly a climate champion, he’ll reverse this illegal decision.

After you leave your message, let us know how it went with the form on the right.

Here are a few talking points you can use:

  • I'm calling because I'm concerned that the State Department is allowing a Canadian oil company to illegally build and expand tar sands pipelines over the border without presidential permits or environmental reviews.
  • I want President Obama to make sure that the State Department follows the same rules for the Alberta Clipper and Line 3 tar sands pipelines that it required for Keystone XL.
  • These laws exist for a reason. They exist to make sure pipelines aren't built or expanded unless they are proven to be in our national interest.
  • Enbridge is legally required to prove that its pipelines are in our national interest, and won't put our water, our climate or our communities at risk. It knows that these pipelines are all risk and no reward -- and so it's trying to bypass the law altogether.
  • I care about stopping tar sands pipelines like these because ___________.
  • Please show your commitment to protecting our climate by applying a 'climate test' to all new energy projects and policies.
