Call Your Members of Congress: Defund Hate
After the domestic terrorist attack last week in Charlottesville, VA, it is important we address our Members of Congress not only to speak out against racism, violence, and xenophobia, but also to act against these prejudices in the Congressional Budget.
Call you Members of Congress and tell them to you want them to:
- Fully fund the Countering Violent Extremism program under the Department of Homeland Security. This program is designed to battle all forms of domestic extremism. But Trump proposed a cut to its budget and to rename it so that it exclusively focused on Islamic sources, eliminating any focus on white nationalism.
- Defund Trump's anti-immigration proposals, like the border wall that the House set aside $1.6 billion just to build, an amount that doesn’t even begin to cover its maintenance.
