Help us make Cambridge safer for people on bikes

This June, two people biking in Cambridge were killed by trucks. Many people biking are also either hit by opening doors from parked cars ("doorings") or hit while maneuvering around double-parked cars. These dangerous conditions have also resulted in multiple fatal crashes in Cambridge. We need to move with great urgency to improve the safety of our roads and intersections throughout the City.

At the same time, in April, a bare majority of the Cambridge City Council voted to delay critically needed bike and pedestrian safety improvements until 2027. This would delay the installation of separated bike lanes, as well as intersection improvements, on two of the most dangerous streets in Cambridge: Cambridge St and Broadway.

On Cambridge St alone, since 2021 there have been at least 65 crashes involving people on bikes, pedestrians, and other forms of active transportation, which led to at least 43 people being injured. Of those injured, at least 27 left in an ambulance. We need to build safer infrastructure without delay!
