Although Governor Evers will again include regulation of marijuana in his 2023-24 budget, we expect the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) to remove this provisions from the budget. You can help by signing our letter writing campaign to your elected officials to make marijuana a priority. Use it to send a clear message that you support Governor Evers Plan to legalize marijuana for Wisconsin.

Should the budget process yield no cannabis reform, we have more options yet this legislative session.

We have active legislation at the state level to decriminalization marijuana in 2023 already planned and highly expect both medical marijuana and adult use legislation to be introduced this upcoming legislation session.

Another option is to duplicate what the City of Madison, Monona and Sturgeon Bay have done, which is to eliminate or remove all penalties for personal possession of marijuana. Milwaukee County is set to lower the county fine to $1 for marijuana and an initiative has begun to remove the penalty for marijuana possession in the municipalities within Milwaukee County and beyond!
