At Citizens UK we focus on developing new leaders who are hungry to make change in their local communities and across the UK. We believe that learning the skills and methods of community organising is at the heart of successful campaigning - and we are determined to equip leaders with the tools to build alliances that make a winning difference.

Weekly online learning: 'learning thursdays' series

Available for non-members and members alike, and accessible to all people whether new to community organising, or looking to hone organising skills.

Most Thursday afternoons from 16:00-17:30 we offer a free learning opportunity. There are a broad range of topics covered, from community of practice in churches, to climate crises conversations, through to organising with student unions. Keep checking back to see what's on offer!

Training in Community Leadership and Organising

We have traditionally run leadership training courses at three levels. Most of our training consists of short workshops and 1 or 2-day Citizens UK Local Taster Trainings delivered in the community. If you are part of a Citizens UK member institution, ask your local Community Organiser for details of Taster Training courses in your area.

For those who want to dive into a more intensive introduction to community organising, we have Citizens UK 3-day training. This is an online course, followed by a 50 hour practical placement in your community. This course is accredited by Birmingham Newman University with a Certificate in Community Leadership.

Finally, for those who would like an immersive community organising experience, we have our Citizens UK 6-day training. This is a residential course, followed by a 50 hour practical placement in your community. This course is accredited by Birmingham Newman University with a Certificate in Community Leadership.
