This year’s UN COP29 Climate Summit host country, Azerbaijan, has appointed a former fossil fuel executive from its state oil company, SOCAR, to be the President of COP29.

SOCAR has announced plans to expand fossil fuel production after the summit.

The UN must act now to replace this fossil fuel executive with a climate expert as the new President for the conference.
