Demand Accountability: Fire South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis Now

Curtis Loftis has failed the people of South Carolina and must be held accountable. Incredibly, he has announced that he will run again in 2026. We must demand his removal before further damage is done.
In 2020, Loftis used his platform to promote misinformation about public health and racial justice, aligning himself with far-right conspiracy theories. These comments were not just offensive—they were reckless and unbecoming of a public official.
Fast forward to 2024–2025: Loftis stands at the center of a financial scandal involving nearly $2 billion in taxpayer funds. For years, he failed to disclose this fund, misled lawmakers by calling it “real money,” and was ultimately contradicted by an independent audit that revealed most of it was the result of faulty accounting. Despite mounting evidence of mismanagement, Loftis refuses to take responsibility, instead dismissing calls for accountability as a “political witch hunt.”
In response, the Constitutional Subcommittee of the State Senate Finance Committee released a damning report citing a clear breach of public trust and raising serious doubts about Loftis’s fitness for office. Prominent leaders have called for his resignation, citing the need to restore transparency and accountability in the state treasurer’s office.
This is not about politics—this is about integrity. Curtis Loftis has breached public trust and endangered the financial reputation of our state. South Carolina deserves better.
If Loftis won’t step aside, the South Carolina House of Representatives must act on the articles of impeachment that have been introduced and then the State Senate must remove him from office
