Political novice or seasoned organizer, big chapter or small, every member joins DSA for the same reason: to change the world. A lot.

Yet for all our victories and progress, we did not have the power to prevent the country from sliding dangerously to the right. For all our strongest chapters’ successes, too many members and chapters are left struggling. For all we keep learning and building through organizing on the ground, our national organization appears to be floating further away from these struggles.

We will not accept this. DSA must change into something strong enough to meaningfully influence politics on the scale of the next presidential election, potential general strike, and whatever other national ruptures may come. As strong as we’ve become in so many areas, we are still nowhere near where we have to be.

The only way to build this power is to become a genuine mass political party. That means an organization in the millions, that anyone whose values align with ours can easily hear about, understand, support, join, and learn to organize in.

That means this convention, we must finally change DSA from a disconnected patchwork to a DSA For All.
