#Fightfor15 Worker Convention and Rally

On August 12th-13th, a #Fightfor15 low-wage worker convention and rally will be held in Richmond, Virginia. It is taking place in the old capitol of the confederacy to highlight the connections between low wages, racism, and our country's history of slavery.

Workers at the convention will be forming an expanded political platform which will form the basis for mass actions across the country in November after the elections. These demands must address the needs of all working people, including people of color, immigrant workers, woman, youth, LGBTQ+ workers, and all those affected by the violence, hatred, and bigotry that scourges our nation. The platform must include demands pertaining to our lives at work, in our local communities, and within our society as a whole. In order to make sure the widest range of concerns is represented by this expanded platform, a multi-racial, multi-gender, multi-generational body of workers must be present. Organizations working towards social progress on each of the issues that affect the 99% need to be there, bringing with them workers from among their ranks.

Two workers from each participating organization as well as a staff member are invited to participate in the convention. Unlimited space is available to attend the rally and march which will be taking place outside the convention.

Delegates at the convention will be leaving on August 12th at 7am from 1 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY. Those attending the rally and march only will depart on August 13th at 6am from 32BJ (25 W 18th St, NY, NY). Transportation from NYC, meals and lodging will be provided. All participants will return to New York City around 11 pm on August 13th.

For those departing from Buffalo, Albany, or other cities in New York State, departure information will be sent out as soon as it gets nailed down.

Come join us. Be a part of forming the direction of this next stage of the political revolution!
