Flatten the Curve of Inequality: Education Equity

All students deserve access to an equitable education.

Schools around the nation have shut down in response to COVID-19. While this is an important measure to ensure the safety of our youth, students are missing out on classroom instruction time.

Schools should continue instruction remotely and ensure that their students have equitable access to necessary learning materials. All schools should provide their students with free technological devices and access to internet in order to maximize a student’s distance learning experience.

It is important that districts implement distance learning plans in an equitable manner that supports students. Districts must ensure students with different abilities, English Language Learners, foster youth, youth experiencing homelessness and youth who may not have the necessary technological infrastructure to participate in distance learning have access to the support services they need throughout the duration of distance learning.
