The petition to Congress reads:

"Pass legislation that provides funding for public transportation programs."

When we travel alone in our cars, we aren't just adding to traffic congestion; we are also hurting the environment by burning fossil fuel.

Tens of millions of Americans drive to work each day because they lack access to safe, reliable public transportation. Even in large cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, or the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the public transportation options may take so long or be so frustrating that commuters just find it easier to hop in their car. This is unsustainable.

All communities, large and small, urban and rural, deserve access to public transportation options that can get us reliably from point A to point B and help reduce our impact on the environment.
