The FCAC Keep it in the Ground! Working Group believes that addressing the catastrophic impacts of climate change means keeping fossil fuel resources in the ground. We envision a transition to renewable power generation and a regenerative economy that protects the land and health and well being of all Alaskans. We aim to:

• Stop ongoing and prevent new government handouts to the oil and gas industry through subsidies, redirecting these state funds to the energy transition.

• Prevent the construction of the Alaska LNG Pipeline, stop funding the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation and commit to sustainable energy solutions

• Support ongoing campaigns to protect indigenous and public lands from harmful, extractive projects

A just transition to a socially and environmentally regenerative economy requires saying "no" to economic choices we know are inconsistent with climate justice. This working group acts to mount popular grassroots campaigns to end fossil fuel extraction in our state. We seek to uplift Indigenous leadership and traditional knowledge, and build a people-powered campaign that shifts the power structure in the state from big oil and gas to the hands of everyday Alaskans. We must end reliance on fossil fuel extraction, hold oil and gas accountable and build a lasting, regenerative economy that protects our lands, waters and ways of life.
