Guaranteed Income Event Series

Kicking off in April, Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, the Inherent Good film producers, and Income Movement are hosting a three part event series focused on the important role that direct cash to people can play in addressing some of our society’s most pressing issues. As a community, we know that economic justice is racial justice is gender justice. We believe it is critical to provide a space for these connections and conversations to take place. This is at the heart of this Guaranteed Income Event Series.

Each event has a specific topic that will help anchor the conversation. And each will also be focused on a specific region in the United States, bringing together elected leaders from targeted areas to invite local communities to participate and learn more about why direct cash programs are important. Everyone is welcome, regardless of where they live, but conversations will center on the work they are doing in their communities.

Watch a Film, Join a Conversation:

Each event will begin with a live screening of Inherent Good, a 60 min documentary film about basic income, which focuses on dwindling income opportunities in a small town in Tennessee as well as participants in the Magnolia Mothers Trust guaranteed income demonstration. Immediately following the film will be a 60 minute panel discussion. Topics of conversation for each event are outlined below.

Each event will include panelists who are: mayors advocating for guaranteed income, members of Congress who have been fighting for recurring cash payments during COVID or for basic income in general, and subject matter experts who can offer details and history on the specific topics covered.
