Republicans in Congress have voted to pass a budget plan that would cut $880 billion from Medicaid. If they’re ultimately successful, tens of millions of Americans will be harmed, including people with disabilities, lower-income people, children, and seniors.

In Rashida Tlaib’s district alone, nearly 260,000 people who are on Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) would be at risk of losing their healthcare—including 100,000 children under 19 years old and 22,000 seniors over 65 years old.

Healthcare is a human right—not a commodity. And, as a country, we have the resources to ensure everyone has the healthcare they need and deserve.

Unfortunately, instead of defending access to healthcare for their constituents, congressional Republicans and the White House are seeking to kick tens of millions of people off of Medicaid to pay for Trump’s tax scam for billionaires and to pay for another $325 billion to the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security to further enable Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
