You may have heard about The Talk. It is a clarion call to action in the face of despair. In The Talk, an Extinction Rebellion member delivers the scientific facts of climate change, telling the truth about the climate and extinction crisis. Then the audience is asked to act as if the truth is real: to take bold, immediate, and sacrificial action to force government and business to act in the face of this emergency.

The Talk was developed first in the UK, where it was delivered in pubs, social halls, and to anyone who would listen. People where moved to action in droves, with 1500 people turning out for the very first Rebellion in October 2018 and snarling London street traffic. In the weeks following, the City of London declared a climate emergency. Six months later, the UK was mobilized for a two-week long April Rebellion, resulting in the declaration of a national climate emergency in the UK.

The talk needed to be tailored for our local audiences and issues, so a team at XR Los Angeles came together from May to August of 2019 to put together this version. We give our labor freely in the service of our planet and her wonders.
