I pledge to contact my CTA Rep about CalSTRS divestment

CalSTRS currently invests over $6 billion of teachers' retirement savings in the fossil fuel industry: an investment that accelerates the climate crisis AND loses teachers money.

CalSTRS is the largest public teachers’ pension fund in the country. Divesting will improve teachers’ pensions, and send a huge message to global financial markets that fossil fuel investments are no longer acceptable. Divesting CalSTRS is one of the biggest levers California teachers have for fighting the climate crisis. Moving the money out of fossil fuels can help speed the transition to a low-carbon economy and give our kids’ futures a fighting chance.

The California Teachers Association is a powerful and influential ally of CalSTRS. If CTA endorses divestment, the board will listen. If you talk to your union representative, we will be a step closer to defunding climate chaos.

Stand up for your pension and your planet by contacting your CTA chapter, and ask them to pass a resolution endorsing divestment! We will provide you with a resolution template and all the resources you need to be successful.
