This week could have been Labour’s week to set our country on a new course. Labour Party members wanted it, other progressive parties wanted it, the public wanted it.

But Keir Starmer and his team didn’t. They did nothing but support a voting system that only works for the benefit of the Tories.

Well second place isn’t good enough for us. It’s not good enough to stop climate chaos or heal our fractured society.

So we pledge to work with every progressive party and citizen who wants proportional representation so that we can tackle the climate crisis and build a more equal society.

It’s clear we can’t wait for Labour’s leadership to do this for us.

Let the fight for a new democracy for a new society begin.
